Proud Of Our Troops Drive

The Proud Our Troops drive started June 26, 2006.  6,205 of Taylor Hicks CD's and books were sent to US soldiers!

A most special thank you to our military for putting your lives on the line to keep us all safe.

A great, big thank you goes out to Soldiers' Angels at www.soldiersangels.org.  They distributed the CD's to U.S. soldiers in each branch of the Armed Forces who were overseas, and also soldiers who were wounded in active duty and are recuperating in hospitals.   People sent the CD's directly to Soldiers' Angels.  The CD's went to US troops who were all over the world.  Our troops are not only in Iraq, but in many other places too.  Jewelry Sprout appreciates everything that Soldiers' Angels did to help with our drive!

Lots of other projects sponsored by the Proud Of Our Troops drive have also been done that do not include sending the soldiers CD's.  Below are some of them:

The Proud Of Our Troops drive teamed up with Books For Africa to donate used books for the children of Africa.  The drive ran for two weeks in Oct of 08.  264 books were sent directly to the Books For Africa warehouse in MN.  The books went to children all over Africa.

The Proud Of Our Troops drive sponsored a drive for the Kacy Hardenbrook Fund.  $360.00 was collected.   Contributors sent the money directly to Peoples Federal Savings Bank in Auburn, IN.  You can read all about Kacy Hardenbrook and her family here.

The Proud Of Our Troops drive sponsored a drive for the Dream Foundation.  The Dream Foundation grants wishes to terminally ill adults.  One of the recipients, who has since passed away, was given lots of goodies from fans of American Idol contestants.  Fans from many contestants participated in this drive and sent their music and other American Idol items directly to the Dream Foundation.  The Dream Foundation put everything together and presented the gifts to the recipient.  The recipient received CD's , pictures, videos on DVD's, and lots of other goodies from fans of Taylor Hicks as well as from fans of other Idols.  The recipient and her son enjoyed watching American Idol together.  Now the recipient's son is enjoying everything that was sent to his mother, and he has many beautiful keepsakes to remind him of her.  You can read all about the Dream Foundation here

The Proud Of Our Troops drive teamed up with Taylor's Angels many times, and some great projects included sending hundreds of soldiers to Taylor Hicks concerts, along with adult and children's charities who also were sent to his concerts.
